    The club enjoys good success with many players representing Auckland at the various age group tournaments and some at New Zealand level. In 2008 and 2009 Howick Pakuranga won the Auckland Hockey Association overall Club of the Year Trophy.

  • Mid 1980's

    In the early to mid 1980’s the Junior Division of the club was formed in order to grow the club right from beginners. Today, the Howick Pakuranga Hockey Club is probably the largest hockey club in New Zealand, with 13 senior mens and womens teams, 8 youth teams and over 200 junior players.

  • Early 1980's

    Real expansion took place in the early 1980’s as some women from Mt. Wellington joined and the club began to attract some better players and coaches. In those early days players often went into local colleges to assist with coaching and to attract players to the club. The club used to share clubrooms at Lloyd Elsmore Park with the Howick Pakuranga Cricket Club. Unfortunately the clubrooms were destroyed by arson. The club is now based at the Lloyd Elsmore Hockey Stadium.

  • 1976

    In 1976 John Daniels took over the reins, and with some of his good contacts within the hockey fraternity, the club began to move ahead. In those days club AGM’s were held in John’s bedroom in Walworth Avenue

  • 1975

    3rd division and 4th division teams were started in 1975.

  • 1974

    The Howick Pakuranga Hockey Club was formed in 1974. The original teams came from 7th formers at Pakuranga College. Most of the players played cricket in summer, and those keen on hockey did not have a local team to play for. Therefore a group led by Keith Armstrong decided to form a hockey club in the Howick Pakuranga area.The club started with two 4th division social grade men’s teams in 1974.
